The base is a metallic copper. The dots are all hand painted by brush and are darkest brown, red brown and gold oxide. This painting is really amazing. So hard to photograph.....depends which angle you look at it. Some angles you see the pattern clearly defined....others it looks like all dots. The first photo is taken on an angle....
