The Girl who silenced the UN for 5 mins ....

I'm not one to watch you tube - or to pass on links - but this one I think is worthwhile sharing. I especially liked the last 90 secs if you can make it to the end. She makes very valid points that really hit home.

This girl maks some very good points, Its so easy sitting here in my modest home, sheltered from the bad weather that we have just had, clean water to drink, food in the cupboard, some money in my pocket, and not having to worry where my next meal is comming from.
One of the points that was made was about the street kids im Brazil, I have just returned for Manila ( Phillippines), every day when you walk around, you see families living on the street, begging just to get there next meal, kids following you, only about 5 or 6 yrs old, begging for food, at night you have to walk on the road because the pavements are full of people sleeping on them.
Then i came home, and along with every one else, i complain that the price of this has gone up, or
thats too expensive, and half of these things that i get are not basics, they are my little luxuries, things that i enjoy, but dont really need, i just take them for granted because i can.
Sometime we need someone to open our eyes and make us think, this site has done that on many occations,
Thank you sofia for such a great site, on more than one occation now you have made me think about how lucky we are, and not to take everything for granted, and think about others for a change.

Hi Patrick, thank you for taking the time to write and share your thoughts and experiences. :-) You are so right - often until we see it ourselves its easier to ignore. And we do complain about things that are luxuries to many ... Sophia
